Early morning, catch a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, passing through small towns and making multiple stops. You’ll traverse through countless hills, rivers, and small villages to reach the beautiful city of Pokhara in the lap of the Annapurna Range. Spend the evening strolling around the Lakeside and rest for the night.
The Tatopani natural hot spring is one of the major highlights of the Kali Gandaki Valley Trek. The drive starts from Pokhara, and you drive across the 6-lane road with a mesmerizing view of the mountain range. When you stop in Beni for lunch, you’ll reach Tatopani in about 5 hours. Spend the evening relaxing in the natural hot springs.
Your trek officially starts now as you move on with a gradual ascent. Passing through dense forests and charming small villages, you’ll reach Ghasa, a small town known for its rich biodiversity and warm hospitality. Spend the night in Ghasa.
Trek through traditional Thakalai villages and enjoy the stunning views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri ranges on your way to Larjung. You also see the glorious Annapurna I at 8,091 meters during your trail. As you approach the peaceful retreat of Larjung, surrounded by apple orchards and majestic mountains, you’ll witness the slow change in surrounding landscapes.
You’ll begin early as you journey to Marpha, a famous town for its apple orchards, brandy, and rich cultural practices. The Marpha streets are pleasant and perfect for shopping for souvenirs on your way back. Both villages, Tukuche and Marpha, offer unique insights into the local way of life.
Continue your journey through arid landscapes as the transition is seen more clearly than ever. As you reach Kagbeni, a sacred site where ancestors are honored by the river, it is believed that performing rituals here liberates the souls of ancestors. Kagbeni is also the gateway to the Upper Mustang region, with a fascinating mix of ancient monasteries and vibrant local culture.
From Kagbeni, the trail to Muktinath is a steep uphill climb, about 1000 meters. You’ll go to the sacred Muktinath Temple, revered by Hindus and Buddhists. The serene atmosphere of the temple has transformed many souls, and so it will transform you for the better. Witness the eternal flame and 108 water spouts, which are a symbol of purification.
Descend all the way to Jomsom, as you enjoy the glorious view of Kali Gandaki River and experience the strong winds—Trek to Jomsom, a lively town with modern amenities and an airport. Celebrate your journey here and spend the night.
Take a scenic flight back to Pokhara, where you can experience the Mustang region’s aerial view. In Pokhara, you can relax, shop for souvenirs, and explore attractions like Phewa Lake, Davis Falls, and the Peace Pagoda. Take this day to reflect on your journey so far.
The final drive back to Kathmandu is perfect for soaking in the experience throughout the trek. This incredible journey comes to an end as you return to Kathmandu. Celebrate your trek with the team in the evening and enjoy a farewell dinner.
