Yala Peak Climbing – 14 Days is one of the best introductory mountaineering adventures in Nepal. Located in the beautiful Langtang region, Yala Peak (5,732m) is a non-technical trekking peak, ideal for beginners looking to gain high-altitude experience. This 14-day journey is perfect for adventure seekers who want a mix of culture, trekking, and Himalayan climbing.
The trip initially begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, marking the start of an unforgettable adventure. From there, the journey continues on foot as you trek through the breathtaking landscapes of Langtang National Park. Not only is this area rich in biodiversity, but it also boasts a deep cultural heritage. As you progress along the trail, you’ll pass through dense alpine forests, charming Tamang villages, and serene Buddhist monasteries. Meanwhile, the stunning views of snow-capped peaks remain a constant and awe-inspiring backdrop. Altogether, this part of the trek offers a perfect introduction to the natural and cultural wonders of the Langtang region.
Eventually, after several days of acclimatization and steady trekking, you will reach Yala Base Camp. From here, the final ascent to the summit of Yala Peak is both rewarding and exhilarating. Once at the top, you’ll be greeted with panoramic views of the majestic Himalayas. Notably, you can see Shishapangma (8,013m) in Tibet—the only 8,000-meter peak located entirely in China as well as Dorje Lakpa (6,966m), Langtang Lirung, and other stunning peaks. In short, the summit offers an unforgettable moment that makes the entire journey worthwhile.
Yala Peak is considered a trekking peak, meaning it doesn’t require advanced technical climbing skills. However, you’ll use essential mountaineering gear like ice axes, ropes, and crampons. Guided by professional climbing experts from Always Himalaya, you’ll gain practical experience in a safe and supportive environment.

Scenic drive through the northern village side of the Kathmandu valley as you make your way to SyabruBensi. Drive through winding mountain roads and get glimpses of rural Nepal and terraced hillsides. Spend the night in Syabru Bensi, a gateway to the Langtang Valley.
Begin trekking through dense forests and pass through small villages. Witness the scenic trail and lush forests everywhere; the mountains only appear in Langtang Valley. The trail from Syabru Bensi is relatively less beaten which offers a serene trail experience. Reach Sherpa Gaun and spend the night there.
Trek to the Langtang Khola, passing through lush rhododendrons and bamboo forests. Today’s trail provides plenty of opportunities to witness wildlife, including Langur, which is rare. You may also witness rare wildlife like red pandas and snow leopards. You will pass across many waterfalls to reach Riverside. Spend the night listening to the fiercely flowing Langtang Khola.
Today’s trail begins with a steep climb to Rimche and then a slow descent to the Langtang Valley. Pass through the previous settlement of Langtang Village, destroyed during the massive earthquake of 2015. Reach the newly built village just across the landslide area. The Langtang village has plenty of facilities, like hot showers, a network, and Wi-Fi. Spend a comfortable night in Langtang.
It is a relatively easy day as you hike to Kyanjin Gompa through a scenic path opening up the glorious mountain range. Before reaching the Kyanjin Gompa, visit the famous hidden lake above the suspension bridge. After reaching the village, explore the town and witness traditional cheese making. Spend the night in Kyanjin Gompa.
Acclimatization becomes crucial while trekking in high altitudes. Depending on your preferences, you can spend the day resting or hiking to Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri. Both viewpoints offer stunning panoramic views of the whole range.
Begin your journey to the Yala Peak Base Camp with guidance from your guide. Implement your technical climbing skills and establish a camp. Receive guidance from your guide and rest early for a summit attempt tomorrow.
An early morning summit push is recommended as the weather is stable with no wind. Experience technical climbing with a stunning sunrise view of the surrounding landscapes. Summit the peak, make memories, and return to Kyanjin Gompa. Celebrate this accomplishment with your team and rest for the day.
Descend through the valley as you retrace your steps to the Lama Hotel. The descent provides a unique perspective of the trail. Reflect on your journey and soak in all the experiences you have had so far. Spend a comfortable night in the Lama Hotel.
Continue descending through beautiful forests and villages, experiencing the lush vegetation again. Take an off-route hike to reach Thulo Syabru, which settles just above Syabru Bensi.
Early morning hike to Dhunche, and then join in for a return drive to Kathmandu. Reflect on your journey and experiences. In the evening, roam around the streets of Thamel, shopping for souvenirs.
Spend the day visiting various UNESCO World Heritage sites like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath. Then, catch up with the team for a farewell dinner, exchange memories, and celebrate the end of such a beautiful journey.
After a hearty breakfast, our team will drop you off at the airport, signaling the end of this remarkable journey. Always Himalaya wishes you all the best on your future journeys. The experiences you have with our team will always be cherished. Thank you!
