This is one of the most highly rated of the shorter treks in Nepal, with some excellent scenery and fantastic views of Langtang Lirung (7234m). We begin the journey with an overland drive to Syabrubesi (eight hours) and overnight there. The following four days are spent walking through some outstandingly beautiful country with forests of oak, rhododendron and pine and through ancient settlements along the way.As we trek above the tree line the valley widens out providing a splendid view of Langtang Lirung. We follow a gradual ascent towards Langtang village and the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. Langtang is the last spot hospitable enough for all-year round habitation. The inhabitants of langtang are Tibetan speaking pastoral farmers whose lifestyle is little changed from that of their ancestors who first colonized the valley from Kyirong in Tibet more than 300 years ago. Before this time Langtang had been regarded as a “hidden’ valley”.

After leaving Langtang we continue on to the summer settlement of Kyangjin, where a rest day is taken, there is time to visit the small gomba and the cheese factory. There is plenty of time to experience the high mountain scenery and to further explore the extensive glacier system up the valley. Two days are taken re-tracing the trail before a trek up to Syabru village for lunch and then a short trek back to Syabrubesi and overnight. The next day we take our transport for the journey back to Kathmandu.
